Although the current worldwide Corona crisis is not over yet there are also great news to share from the island of the gods:
After almost 3 years since the eruptions of Mount Agung, the Indonesian government has reduced the risk level from 3 to 2. After showing none to very little activity over a long period, the risk assessment of Mount Agung is back to "normal"
Last September alamBatu hosted a Backscatter underwater photo workshop. With the help of Jim Decker and Erin Quigley all participants made great improvements in their underwater photography. Enjoy the “best of” slide show…

MOUNT AGUNG UPDATE
January 9, 2018: The government has reduced the evacuation zone to 6 km and the region of alamBatu has therefore been declared as safe.
At the moment, the anual renovation works are in progress and we are lookig forward to seeing our guests end of February.
December 5, 2017: We have decided to keep the resort closed until the end of the year as it is not possible to predict the situation with the volcano «Gunung Agung». In January & February we will be closed for our annual renovation works as usual and look forward to opening again end of February 2018.
November 27, 2017: Last night, we had to evacuate the resort again as volanic activities are increasing. Denpasar airport has been temporarely closed. We will keep you informed.
November 7, 2017: The Mount Agung volcano has calmed down and we've reopened the alamBatu resort today. We are very happy and we look forward to seeing you soon.
Ocober 30, 2017: We are so glad to inform you, that yesterday the alert level has been downgraded to level 3 and we can return to alamBatu. The resort will be reopened on November, 7.
October 26, 2017: We are still on level 4 alert (evacuation level) but we hope that the government will downgrade the alert level to level 3, which would mean that we could return to alamBatu. Let's hope for the best!
As we informed you earlier we had to evacuate alamBatu - Beach Bungalow Resort on the 22nd of September. The volcano has not erupted so far but is still very active until now.
Congratulation Doris Vierkötter for winning the November «visons foto '17» competition! Check out her great shot: Unterwasser
CALL FOR DONATIONS
alamBatu - Beach Bungalow Resort is located near the volcano "Gunung Agung" that has been asleep for more than 50 years until a few weeks ago. On friday, 22nd of September, the warning level was raised by the government to the highest level and the whole area within a radius of 12km around the crater was evacuated, including our whole staff and whole village of Baturinggit.
So far the volcano has not erupted but threatens to do so anytime. The villagers including our staff are located in a refugee camp far enough from the danger zone. So far there is enough food supplied by the government and alamBatu but this might change very soon if the situation does not calm down.
We would like to support the village of Baturinggit and of course our staff members who were always so welcoming to us and our guests. All donations will be used to buy food, clothes, medicine, accommodation and eventually the relocation back to their homes.
Thank you very much for your help! Donate
